Leads overview
Understand what a Lead represents and how WebPro CRM keeps early sales opportunities organized.
A Lead is an early sales enquiry or potential customer that has not yet become a formal Deal. It keeps identity, company context, source, ownership, status, and follow-up information together.

- New — captured but not yet contacted.
- Contacted — a meaningful first contact has occurred.
- Qualified — suitable to progress into a Deal.
- Future — worth revisiting at a specific future time.
- Not Qualified — not suitable to progress, with a reason.
- Converted — progressed into a Deal.
What to capture
Add the person’s name, useful contact details, company, role, source, website, and an owner. WebPro CRM assigns the Lead Number automatically.
A referral enquiry
LD-000128 — Rahul Sharma, Acme Commerce Pvt. Ltd., asks about Technical SEO and Digital Marketing. The Lead Source is Referral, the status is Contacted, and the next action is to review the ecommerce website before a Growth Diagnostic.
When to create a Lead
Create a Lead when a person or business has expressed potential interest and the team needs to decide whether an opportunity is worth progressing. Website enquiries, referrals, outbound responses, and conversations from existing clients can all begin as Leads.
Do not create a Lead merely to store a general Company directory entry. Use a Company for the business account and a Contact for a known person when there is no active enquiry to qualify. A Lead is useful because it combines the prospect, source, owner, status, and next sales action.
Lead versus Deal
A Lead represents early qualification. A Deal represents a qualified commercial opportunity that belongs in the Pipeline. Contacted and Qualified are Lead statuses; Pipeline stage labels apply to Deals and are configured by the workspace.
What good Lead data enables
A useful Lead lets a colleague answer: Who is the prospect? How can we reach them? Why did they contact us? Who owns the response? What has happened, and what happens next? The Lead Number provides a stable reference even when names or companies are similar.
Before converting, verify that the customer need and next step are credible. If timing is the issue, Future may be more accurate than forcing the Lead into a Deal. If the enquiry is unsuitable, retain the reason through Not Qualified rather than deleting useful context.
Keep Leads actionable
Use Activities to record meaningful interactions, Notes for durable context, and Tasks & Follow-Ups for owned work with a due time. A status without context does not explain the customer conversation; a note without a next action does not ensure follow-through.
