Companies overview

Organize business accounts and understand how Companies connect Contacts, Deals, and customer history.

A Company represents a business account. It provides a shared business-readable relationship for Contacts and Deals and helps your team understand the wider customer context.

Useful Company details

Company records support a name, website, email, and phone. Use the official business identity colleagues will recognize rather than an informal abbreviation that could create confusion.

Relationships

A Company can have multiple Contacts and Deals. This is expected: several people may participate in one buying process, and the same business may have more than one opportunity over time.

Active and archived

Archiving keeps a Company’s historical relationships while removing it from active use. Restore it if work resumes.

When a Company is useful

Create a Company when the business account itself should be reused across Contacts or Deals. A Company is not an enquiry status and does not replace a Lead. Early Lead company text may describe the prospect before a formal relationship is established; conversion and Deal workflows connect the appropriate Company record.

One business, several relationships

Acme Commerce may have Rahul Sharma in marketing, Priya Sharma in operations, and more than one commercial opportunity. That should normally be one Company with multiple Contacts and Deals—not duplicate Company records for every conversation.

Use the recognizable legal or trading name, a valid website, and useful business contact details. Duplicate awareness can help identify similar Company names or websites, but the user still reviews the context.

Operational value

Opening a Company helps the team understand the shared account context. Keep person-specific information on Contacts and opportunity-specific information on Deals. Archive inactive businesses rather than erasing relationships that explain historical Leads, Contacts, or Deals.
